Global Messengers Program

Global Messengers Program

Global Messengers are Special Olympics athletes who help spread the message and vision of the movement as well as the benefits they have gained by participating in Special Olympics. As leaders and message-bearers of the movement, Global Messengers communicate the powerful declarations of hope, acceptance, dignity and courage of Special Olympics athletes around the world. Only athletes can effectively relate the impact that the movement has had on their lives and the lives of their families.

Global Messengers is an integral part of the comprehensive Special Olympics Athletes Leadership Program (ALPs), which allow athletes to explore opportunities to participate in Special Olympics in capacities previously considered “non-traditional.”  ALPs encourages athletes to serve in leadership roles other than that of “competitor.”  Armed with this training, athletes will feel confident and welcomed as public speakers carrying the Special Olympics message and to participate in varying new roles within the Special Olympics movement.

Ticket Distribution

All Athlete, Partner, Coach, and Chaperon tickets will be distributed at the Coaches Meeting on Friday, May 3oth.  In addition, all tickets purchased through the registration packet will also be distributed at this time.

All tickets purchased online will be the responsibility of the purchaser to print a confirmation of the purchase and present at the main gate to receive the ride passes.  If you purchase onsite at Olympic Village, your tickets will be given to you at the time of purchase.

Dinner and Victory Dance

Cliff’s Amusement Park opens at 10:00 am and closes at 9:00 pm.  Delegations are strongly encouraged to arrive at the park as early as possible.  The Dinner and Victory Dance will be hosted at the upgraded and expanded Pavilion.  Dinner is scheduled from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm and will be provided by Rudy’s Bar-B-Q.  In an effort to avoid long lines, dinner will be served in two lines and we will assign delegations shift times to report to dinner.

It is extremely important that everyone understands that purchasing the $10.00 ride pass does not include dinner.

Only those registered delegates with credentials and purchased extra meal tickets holders will be served dinner.
