A-Volunteers (Coaches, Unified Partners, Chaperones)

A-Volunteer Information (Coaches, Unified Partners, Chaperones):

“The wise coach develops not only the fullest physical potential in his charges, but also those capacities and habits of mind and body which will enrich and ennoble their later years.”
(Geoffrey Dyson speaking to the 19th session of the International Olympic Academy, Greece 1979)

The roles that Special Olympics New Mexico A-Volunteers play come with great responsibility. Our A-Volunteers may play the role of teacher, role model, chaperone, caregiver, friend, counselor, Unified Partner and of course coach.

Our A-Volunteers impart to our athletes a plethora of sports skills and competitive spirit. They also help build character and assist in our athletes’ development as productive members of society.  These values define the Special Olympics movement.

Start here:

First and foremost all A-Volunteers (who have prolonged contact with Special Olympics athletes) must complete and pass a mandatory background check. There is no cost to you in completing the background check, and you will find the form included in the Certification Progression below. 210ad4u
