The Southwest Border Battle is a multiple state collaboration engaging Special Olympics athletes through wellness. During this 6 week challenge (held May 4-June 14) we will be focusing on 7 areas of wellness in a friendly competition against Special Olympics Arizona, Colorado, and Utah. Each day will bring you a new challenge to complete, focusing on one of the areas of wellness. It’s never too late to join the challenge! Learn more here and join the challenge on Facebook here.
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Special Olympics New Mexico would not exist today, nor be as successful as it is, without the help of the thousands of people who dedicate their time, energy, and especially their enthusiasm to making the world a more accepting place.
Being a volunteer is all about finding what moves you, and the right opportunity to get involved. That opportunity starts here. Your first step is to know what roles you can be a part of. Whether you want to volunteer for a single day’s event, several hours a week, or year-round, we have a place for you.
